Tennessee FFA Association - State Officers - President

President

Name: Chris Vessell
Home Chapter: Lincoln County
Hobbies: Hanging out with friends, going to the movies, playing racket ball, meeting new people, going to UT Football games, showing Charolais cattle, writing for UT's Campus Newspaper, participating in Campus Crusade for Christ, serving on UT's Student Government Association
Favorite CDE: My favorite CDE is most definitely Prepared Speaking. It's easy to talk about what you love. Through the Prepared Speaking CDE, I was able to speak on one of my fondest subjects - agriculture. Consequently, I have developed a deep passion for promoting the significance of agriculture to people from all walks of life.
SAE: My SAE, Beef Production Entrepreneurship, consists of 35 head of Charolais cattle and 20 head of commercial cattle. Throughout high school I managed every segment of my cattle operation, which included breeding marketing, keeping records, and vaccinating. My goal is to acquire enough qualtity Charolais cattle to be able to put together my own production sale some day.
Most Memorable Moment in FFA: Presiding over the 2001-2002 Middle Tennessee Awards Banquet was my most memorable moment in the FFA. There's no greater feeling than knowing that your hard work has paid off. Our regional officer team had accomplished several goals that we had set at the beginning of the year, and it was just a great feeling. In addition, I was recognized as the regional winner in four CDE contests.
Future Plans: I plan to graduate from the University of Tennessee, majoring in Agriculture to become an Agriculture Journalist. I hope to be able to inform agriculturalists about solutions to problems they will face and improve the public's agriculture literacy.
Email: Feel free to email me any time at cvessell@utk.edu, whether its concerning a FFA matter, or if you just want to let me know what's been going on.
