| SAE: | ||||||
| My SAE is Equine Entrepreneurship. I care for the three horses on our farm, and am actively involved in their nutrition, exercise, and maintenance programs. Scheduling regular vet and farrier visits are also some of my responsibilities. I compete in Barrel Racing and Pole Bending in both Alabama and Tennessee. My ultimate goal is to qualify for the National Barrel Horse Association’s World Show. | ||||||
| Favorite CDE: | ||||||
| My favorite CDE would definitely be Extemporaneous Speaking. I love studying current issues facing agriculture and being able apply what I learned by presenting an informative speech. I was fortunate enough to compete at the national level in Extemporaneous Speaking and found it to be a truly rewarding experience. I have found that the skills I attained while competing in this event have proven valuable on a number of occasions. | ||||||
| How I got involved in the FFA: | ||||||
| I knew that I was going to be involved in the FFA before I was even a freshman. My father sponsored numerous scholarships for members of the FFA, and the entire family went to the awards banquets where he would present them. I was especially fascinated by the opening and closing ceremonies as well as the speakers at the banquets. I knew that I wanted to be in the FFA from the very beginning. So when my freshman year came, I was ready. I jumped in with both feet and have never looked back. | ||||||
| My most influential role model: | ||||||
| I have been fortunate enough to come into contact with some truly influential role models in my life. I feel that I have taken a little something from each of them. My mother has shown me the importance family as well as being an upstanding Christian. My father has taught me to work hard in everything that I do and to strive for excellence. My mentor, Mrs. Rujena Dotson, has encouraged me to be a positive person and instilled in me a love for agriculture that I will never loose. | ||||||
| My Future Plans: | ||||||
| I plan to obtain a Bachelors Degree in Agribusiness as well as a law degree and become an Agricultural Lobbyist. | ||||||
| Message to Greenhand Members: | ||||||
| Put on your seatbelt because you are in for the ride of your life!! Get involved, become active, and take advantage of every opportunity that this wonderful organization has to offer. I guarantee that you will not regret it! | ||||||
| If I could travel anywhere in the world: | ||||||
| I would go to Australia and experience life “down under.” I would like to compare the different aspects of their life style and culture. Not to mention the beautiful beaches! | ||||||
