Tennessee FFA Association - State Officers - East TN Vice-President

Sentinel

Name:   Cody Norton
Home Chapter:   Spring Hill
SAE:

Equine Entrepreneurship was the basis of my supervised agricultural experience project. I live on a working horse ranch where my family owns 32 horses. We show our horses in the National Reining Horse Association and the American Quarter Horse Association. I also did some small crop production with pumpkins and vegetables.
Favorite CDE:
I always loved extemporaneous public speaking. The thrill of getting a topic and  having little time to prepare a speech always intrigued me and keep my adrenalin pumping. I also loved to learn about new issues in the agriculture industry while I was preparing for the extemporaneous public speaking CDE.
How You Got Involved In The FFA:
FFA played an important role in my life even before I was born. You could say I was born because of the FFA. The first time my parents met was when my father went and spoke as a national officer at my mothers' home chapter. Even before my freshman year of high school they had me reciting the FFA creed.
Most Influential Role Model:
No question my dad. He was the one who put the compassion in my heart for the FFA, and taught me the values that I still live by today. He taught me how to never quit before a job was done and how an honest day's work is the best medicine a man can get.
Future Plans:
I am currently a freshman at the University of Tennessee at Martin majoring in Agriculture Business. After graduating I plan to work as a commodities broker on the Chicago Board of Trade and eventually own my own business in the agriculture industry. I will always be involved in the FFA and helping young people learn about the agriculture industry.
Message to Greenhand members:
NEVER GIVE UP! Thomas Edison found over 9000 ways how not to invent the light bulb but every one remembers him for the one time that he did. A man once said the man who does not fail does not try. Always try and never give up if you are passionate about something.
If You Could Travel Anywhere In The World:
Australia hands down. I love the movie Crocodile Dundee and the down under has so many diverse plant and animal species in it.
