Describe your SAE: My SAE consists of Specialty Animal Production! I help manage a herd of registered boar goats on my family farm. My responsibilities encompass all aspects of the herd. I am responsible for the nutrition, vaccinations, and grooming of all the animals. Along with the registered boar goat herd, we also raise Zebu cattle and a variety of chickens.
What is your favorite CDE: My favorite CDE is Soil Judging! I was lucky enough to be the high individual in Middle Tennessee in 2006, and high in my district contest in 2007. I was also fortunate enough to be on good teams with great teammates. Along with my great teammates, I also had an advisor that loved this contest as much as I do.
Most memorable FFA moment: My most memorable FFA moment was winning the State Agricultural Issues CDE! This was the second year that I competed in this contest, and was ecstatic when all of our hard work finally paid off. After winning State, it was my privilege to compete on the National level in Indianapolis where my team achieved a gold rating.
Who is your role model? My role model would definitely have to be my Dad. He is one of the most respectable individuals that I have ever known. His ability to get along with others and keep a cool head on his shoulders is something that I hope I have learned from him. If I can become half the man that my Dad is, I would consider my life a success.
What are your career plans? I plan to attend the University of Tennessee at Martin in the fall and major in Agricultural Business and Political Science. After finishing my undergraduate I hope to attend law school and one day hopefully become an agricultural lobbyist.
If I could travel any where in the world…. If I could travel anywhere in the world I would go to Great Britain. The scenery and historical sites of the island would be amazing to get to see first hand. I hope that one day I will be able to go there and maybe attend the 2012 Olympic games in London.
